The Animal House is one of only two animal shelters in Jamaica. Located in <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ocho_Rios">Ocho Rios</a> on the northern coast of the island, the Animal House takes in stray, injured, and abused animals and provides them with food, shelter, medical care (including spay/neuter), and most importantly, LOVE. It's a no-kill facility, and they believe in finding homes for all of their animals, one by one. This is an extraordinary place, and will hopefully become one of the fabulous animal-friendly organizations that benefits from <a href="http://www.animalwork.org">AnimalWork.org</a>.<br /><br />I'd like to end with a quote posted on the Animal House website:<br /><br /><span style="font-weight:bold;">"If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you. Since there are so many organizations out there, it is imperative fully investigate potential partners before committing to a relationship.<br /><br />I have identified 5 requirements of a non-profit organization in order to qualify for a partnership with AnimalWork:<br /><ol><li><span style="font-weight: bold;">Vision &amp; Mission</span>: Organizations must be striving to ultimately make this world a safer and friendlier place for animals.<br /></li><li><span style="font-weight: bold;">Policies &amp; Procedures:</span> Must be geared at achieving the organization's goals.<br /></li><li><span style="font-weight: bold;">Approach:</span> Must have a proactive and dynamic approach concerning animal issues and emerging concerns.<br /></li><li><span style="font-weight: bold;">Financial Efficiency</span>: Must utilize resources in a most efficient manner and allocate funds among programs appropriately (<a href="http://www.charitynavigator.org/">Charity Navigator</a> is a great place to research this.)<br /></li><li><span style="font-weight: bold;">Tax Requirements: </span>Must have tax-exempt status under section 501(c) of the Internal Revenue Code.<i><span style=";font-family:&quot;;font-size:8;color:black;" ></span></i></li></ol>I will releasing a fully-detailed newsletter for non-profits interesting in partnering with <a href="http://www.animalwork.org/">AnimalWork.org</a> shorty.<br /><br />In the mean time...<br /><br />If you know of any <span style="font-weight: bold;">exemplary animal rights or rescue organizations</span> that we should connect with, please let me know!
